New York, NY, August 17, 2009 – After a successful launch of their debut full-length album Sounds of Machines last April in the US, Brooklyn electronic/rock band Zigmat kicks off their debut tour in Brazil this Fall. The tour includes seven venues in four Brazilian cities from October 8 – 17, 2009.
Fronted by vocalist Monica Rodriguez and bassist Stephen Yonkin, Zigmat had signed with the Brazilian record label Ultra in 2008. They released their Spanish LP Sounds of Machines in South America in July of that year.
Rodriguez, who is a native of Puerto Rico, is thrilled about this South American tour. “I love being immersed in other cultures,” says Rodriguez. “Being that our music has a wide range of influences, it’s nice to get in front of multi-cultural audiences outside of the US.”
Formed in 2006, Zigmat has performed in Brazil, the US and Mexico as well as on the TV show Fearless Music (Fox), which airs across the US and in Brazil. Time Out NY says about the band, "Brooklyn's Zigmat plays punky songs spiked with electronics; occasionally, singer Monica Rodriguez switches to Spanish. The international flavor is part Yeah Yeah Yeahs, part Brazilian Girls."
