HYDRA GREECE – BEST ISLAND DAY TRIP from ATHENS – vlog

So you’re in Athens Greece and you’re
looking for the best day trip island. Which one to choose? We head to the port city of Piraeus where we board a ferry to the best island getaway we’re going
to an island called Hydra (Ydra) since we have a short time in Greece we decided to
visit an island that’s only an hour and a half off the coast of Athens oh! luckily the island that we’re going to
is car free okay no crosswalks in this town so this is our boat for the Hedra this is the port we’re leaving Athens heading to Hydra we have landed in there’s no cars on
this and they also have sea taxis
and lots of cats. In Hydra, you’ll find cats everywhere and they’re well taken
care of by the local community Hydra has a long and rich history
which makes exploring the island that much more interesting at one time the
island was even part of Venice today the island has a population of about 2,000
people stone alleyways climbing up these steps in Hydra here you can see all the boats coming
into the harbor and from Athens there’s boats departing every hour and a half or
so this place doesn’t even look real renaming this island “incredible” if you love the color of this water as
much as we do hit the thumbs-up button down below [music] we just got a rocket salad, and a Greek salad, a cappuccino. In Greece
they have community cats in community companies kidding food right before our
eyes are leftover souvlaki was stolen by a local cat a hair game. Guess who used to come here? Sophia Loren came to Hedra in 1957 to
film “a boy on a dolphin” she has since named the island one of
the most beautiful places in the world and we couldn’t agree more
between the weather the beautiful water the charming cobblestone streets the
narrow alleyways and the historic churches Hydra you can stay overnight in
Hydra there are no chain hotels or you can do a day trip like us and with that we head back on the 2:30
ferry which stopped in Poros on the way to Athens if you’re looking for a short
island hop getaway from Athens definitely check out Hedra and Kouros
that being said there’s over 6,000 islands in Greece and over 200 are
inhabited so there’s much more to explore yeah
is Mykonos the party island on that note – be sure to subscribe for

One thing I noticed Hydra doesn't have is UGLY GRAFFITI. The next time I visit Greece, I will definitely do the Island Hopping.
