Integrating aspects of CBT and Positive psychology | Dr. Paul T. P. Wong | Summer Institute

the real positive psychology is learning how
to be happy and healthy by incorporating the bad parts the dark side of life that make you genuinely stronger and genuinely happier let’s
take some time to digest ok then what I’m proposing is that they’re no longer two separate disciplines but let’s create an existential positive psychology of meaning
therapy where all the good things in life the happiness the virtue the
character strengths all the good things in life come from overcoming the bad
things overcoming and transforming the bad things that make sense
if keep the bad things on one side just to be happier
it doesn’t last very long it’s not durable not sustainable the
bad things will catch up to you bad things happen to a good people so let’s say let’s let
them not be afraid of suffering I’ve I’ve suffered all kinds of things I’m still
here jumping jumping up and down absorb all suffering and turn it to joy
right so I’m happy to today as well my pains and aches as well as where I tripped here this
morning and hurt my leg I’m happy because I’ve learned the secret of absorbing
suffering not that’s why for the mental health people are treating
physicals doctors from physical CBT treating the head positive psychology is teaching you to be happy we all together if we’re able to
integrate then we will be better
