Mount Tonodake Hiking | Best day trips near Tokyo to view Mt Fuji

[Music] this is Mountain Adachi and this is the view from the summit of course if you wanted my first genius earnest mount Ola ducky is a 491 meter mountain found in the tons a low mountain range in kanagawa prefecture this will be my third summit of Mount Taranaki and each previous trip to close to four hours of summit from a Korra bus stop our current starting point the hike will be a long arduous skyward ascent about nine point five kilometers who’s dick pristine forests along mountain spines seemingly in the stairs rocky boulder fields which eventually pinnacle that will remind my weary legs and my breath has lungs why we climb join me on this expedition of the less traveled roads of Japan welcome to another episode of mountains of Japan its melting a decade is the first mountain I’ve ever climbed training for Mount Fuji back in 2007 I don’t really know but this is the mountain that kicked off my love for hiking and outdoors and honestly this has started at all this mountain is my home base I love it I love mountain tilden okay the views are amazing I think it has the best view of Mount Fuji and I’m pretty sure we’re gonna get a good view of would you sign today because I caught a couple of months of it already tono ducky runs a mountain range 2019 back at it baby let’s go [Music] on your fake you lazy ah gross [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] I’ll be up first on ya top amount Tomodachi well how was it easy for her actually amazing it is the easiest mountain I have climbed this year easiest mountain she climbed this year which is a lot she’s climbing she’s actually training for Kilimanjaro in two weeks yep which is insane that’s so I can’t wait can’t wait it’s crazy but she’s been crushing all the mountains in Japan like like nothing I mean this she smoked I can see why this one is your favorite it’s my favorite because of that the Mount Fuji view is amazing not only that she’s coming up the mountain there’s a lot of views of thunder % mouth fuji yeah a lot of different ecosystem you going through the forest then you’re out on the ridge and you see and the city was I mean you’re not gonna pick it up on camera but you can see the whole city down here in the ocean when it’s clear the colors were Bowman hopefully you saw that on the drone shot I took earlier it was great tornado key I loved it and her final mountain in Japan before she goes to africa and climbs Kilimanjaro which I can’t wait to hear about and see the pictures because obviously she’s gonna make it right she’s gonna make it I’m running out of time every day goes by so fast and every moment counts baby I don’t wanna miss a few we can sleep under the stars I can sleep under the stars or hang out in hotel bars writing someone you can sleep and sleep under stars [Music] [Music] let’s make the most of this night come on baby take my hand and we don’t need to do that [Music] [Applause] [Applause] [Music] they’re gonna wait back it’s been a pretty rough day for me man I haven’t really hiked really really hike the good mountain since Mount Fuji and that was August 3rd so keep my but it’s hard to get out of shape I mean I’ve been out of shape for years but when you get when you stop hiking and just do camping and no do some travel I went to Hokkaido which I’ve shown you’re probably sick of seen stop hiking to get out of shape your first one back it’s like you don’t go to the gym for a while and you finally go back to the gym January 1st for your resolution you get your ass kicked well I got my ass kicked today I’m always grateful on my days out in Japan growing up California I never in my wildest dreams imagined I’d be in Japan let alone climb the mountain tops and still doing in my mid 40s so baby it’s how we do definitely not the life I thought I’d have when I was in my early 20s yeah baby I don’t take for granted anything ever health or on that ambassador for Japan’s outdoors I was made for this I didn’t even know it Oh probably spread the word and hopefully some people listen and catch on it understand you know that Japan is 70% forested mountain just beautiful not just cities and Tokyo I mean that’s fun too there’s that but I rather be up here smelling nature here in the bird from the background couple bears playing somewhere around here some deers that’s what’s up baby this is the life and I don’t take it for granted just like you did [Music] [Applause] eventually and inevitably the dirt roads turned to gravel and gravel turn to pavement and reality sets in [Music] alright that’ll do it be back at the car in probably five minutes and it was a good hike I’m sure I’m sure ballerinas back at the car she smoked me today which is good because since she’s doing a seven eight day expedition in Kilimanjaro she should be in that good shape that she’s a young girl and and fit then young and fit she crushed it so I wish her luck on her trip to Africa next week and I’m sure she’ll have all the success that she wants that’s for me I’m gonna go home soak in my little bubble bath and I don’t know maybe look at this video or edit some pictures or do what I usually do get a frozen burrito eat a chili dog and pet my own dog so that’s what we’ll do thanks for coming along once again and it was the success my name is rocky and this is rocky spurred outdoors until next time sayonara [Applause] you

What a view from the summit! Good to hear you have weary legs and breathless lungs and it's not only me. Sometimes when you are climbing and you are tired, you wonder why you do it, then you hit the top, you look around and it all becomes so clear. I hope your friend made Kilamangro, now that is a climb. I hope she filmed it. I know what you mean about getting out of shape and then getting back out again, it's 4 weeks since my hernia operation but not been to the gym, not been swimming and no climbing. I am so looking forward to getting back in the mountains but a bit worried what my fitness levels will be lol. Great watch Rocky San, cheers Alan

So true. When you're young you take health and fitness for granted, and then when the years rack up you find out otherwise. Great video, as usual!

Mt. Tonodake looks like an amazing hike. Tremendous views. New sub here – found your channel last week when I searched YouTube for bushcraft in Japan. I had to comment on this video when I found out you're a fellow Californian:) I hope your friend has a great experience in Africa and thanks for sharing!

What a great hike Rocky it was candy for our eyes and ears .Nice capture and editing.
It’s a every day work to keep our body in shape and it doesn’t take long to get out of shape if we stop .
I am 64 and always did what I could to try to keep in shape but could’ve done more . I still do skiing (50 years) in winter and a little bit of cycling in summer never been a big hiker but I do admire those who do .Going skiing ⛷ to Whistler in January whit my son and his wife and also a friend of mine , this will be my third time skiing in the Rocky Mountains .

Another wonderful vid Rockie. It looked like quite a challenging hike up Mt. Tonodake. At least you had a friend to share your experience with and it's cool she'll be climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro in a couple weeks. You looked pretty beat up by the time you returned to the mountain base. You're correct saying we can't take anything for granted. We have to work for for results and keep our expectations realistic. Thanks again for sharing your adventures and travels. Cheers mate!!

Nice one. Funny the way life works out. I showed up in Japan on a whim…a decade and a half later, long after the bright lights and boozy nights have lost their lustre, it's the damn mountains that keep me here. Just can't get enough of them.

I really like the way you opened up this video and loved the drone shots you used! It's awesome that this is the trail that got you addicted to the Outdoors! I think I would totally dig this trail and seem like a half decent workout also! Really cool video bro! Japan Baby!!
